Blue Origin project Jarvis/Clipper - reusable NG 2nd stage

Sorry in advance, this one's going to be a bit of a ramble with no math.

While I was reading in the new cis-lunar tug thread, I had a little bit of a daydream about the whole new ecosystem that Blue is lowkey proposing.  Reef, cislunar tug, lander, nice stuff.  It's a little bit light on the Earth-LEO/Reef side of things though.  Well, New Glenn obviously is part of their answer.  But that made me think a little bit about Jarvis being something new and different.  Not just a reusable second stage, what if it was a return vehicle for regular NG 2nd stages? Could it make sense to launch NG with a 2nd stage that does whatever, lets say it sends some prop to the Reef, then stays docked there. Then they launch a Jarvis, lets say it has some minor amount of prop it can also deliver to Reef, so it goes there, picks up the empty 2nd stage that just refuelled the Reef, loads it up inside somehow, and then returns both itself and another second stage.  This feels a little lacking in efficiency to basically use a whole second launch for a Jarvis, basically just to reuse one second stage one additional time, but if booster reuse is fast enough and the marginal costs of additional booster uses are low enough, why couldn't it be low enough to consider?

So if it's only marginally on the edge of being efficient, what if there were a way to return stuff more efficiently?  The problem being that a whole second stage, now empty, is big and fluffy (not dense) and it will take up all the room inside a Jarvis module.  So what if the second stages operate on more like a drop-tank model, somehow instead of transferring the prop from itself to the Reef, it just detaches the tanks, and now you have just the engines, avionics, and some structure (SMART anyone?) that could go inside a Jarvis, and maybe now you can fit 2, 3, maybe 4 inside Jarvis for a return trip.  I know, this is not a simple matter, rockets are not LEGO elements and "simply detaching the tanks" is, um, magic at this point rather than anything with a TRL, but that could shift the return cargo back in the direction of dense and cost effective, and also put NG onto a path very very close to full reuse.

Sorry if this is all gibberish, it's mostly just a daydream musing, I know we have nothing to suggest that Jarvis is anything at all remotely resembling this description or that the second stages could support this conops, or that Reef will either.  But I'm starting to think that Blue has a little more up their sleeve than we (I) have been assuming as far as long term plans, and the LEO/Lunar ecosystem.

Whether I am even remotely right about anything I invented above, I am still excited for what NG can do with expendable second stages and a cislunar tug, no Reef or Jarvis needed.
